UFC 267: BLACHOWICZ VS TEIXEIRA | 6th Round Post-Fight Show

Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here to breakdown the UFC 267 NON-PPV event, which was broadcast from ‘Fight Island’, Abu Dhabi. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event.

The UFC showcased the battle for the UFC LHW Championship in the main event. We had current Champ, Jan Blachowicz, on an impressive 5-fight win streak, sporting a 28-8 fight record, coming back to defend his title for the 2nd time - after handing Israel Adesanya the 1st loss of his career. On the other side of the Octagon, we had the returning contender, hoping to make good on his 2nd attempt at championship gold - with his 1st resulting in unanimous decision defeat to Jon Jones at UFC 172 in 2014. Teixeira was coming at this as the #1-ranked contender with a 32-7 record & some heavy hands.

Ultimately, the belt is now coming to England, after Glover submitted the Champ just 3:02 into the 2nd-Rd via Rear Naked Choke. The 42-yr old newly crowned champ is now the oldest 1st-time champ & 2nd oldest champ in UFC history, as well. Add to that, most subs & most finishes in the LHW Division!

Meanwhile, the co-main event featured our 2nd title fight, for the UFC Interim BW Championship, between #1 ranked, Petr ‘No Mercy’ Yan, with a record of 15-2, who was looking to redeem himself after his DQ loss to Aljamain Sterling by reclaiming the BW belt against #3 ranked, Cory ‘The Sandman’ Sandhagen, with a 14-3 record.

Also on the card, we had a highly-anticipated LW match between Islam Makhachev & Dan ‘The Hangman’ Hooker. We also had a WW tilt between, ‘The Leech’ Jingliang Li, & the undefeated phenom, Khamzat ‘Borz’ Chimaev.

In addition to that, we had an exciting showdown between top-10 HWs, Alexander ‘Drago’ Volkov & Marcin ‘Tybur’ Tybura; as well as the LHW scrap between #7 ranked Magomed Ankalaev vs. #8 ranked Volkan ‘No Time’ Oezdemir in our main card opener.

Overall, this now 14-bout card saw 2 1st-Rd finishes, 2 KO/TKO’s, 4 subs, & 8 decisions, 1 split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Glover Teixeira & Khamzat Chimaev; FOTN honors went to Petr Yan vs. Cory Sandhagen.
